Why does KeyMiles need location “Always”?
So it can notice when you start driving and record the trip even when the app is closed. Precise GPS is used only while you're driving; the rest of the day KeyMiles stays in low-power mode. Your location stays on your phone.
A trip is missing. What happened?
Usually location is set to “While Using” instead of “Always,” Low Power Mode paused tracking, or the phone was off. Check Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › KeyMiles. You can add a missed drive in Trips › “+ Add a trip KeyMiles missed” — it's marked as entered by hand in your reports.
I was a passenger. How do I remove that trip?
Tap Personal on the trip. It stays out of your business totals. You can also open the trip and tap Delete trip; deleted trips can be restored from Trips › Deleted trips.
How accurate are the miles?
KeyMiles filters out GPS noise and parking-lot drift, and is tested against real car odometers. Our goal is within 2% of your odometer.
Will it drain my battery?
KeyMiles uses motion detection to stay in low-power mode until you drive, so most people see a small impact.
What is the Recovery Key?
Your backup is encrypted with a key only you have. It lives in your iCloud Keychain, and the Recovery Key is your printed copy. If you lose your iPhone and your iCloud Keychain, the Recovery Key is the only way to unlock your backup — we can't recover it for you. Find it in Settings › Account & Backup › Show Recovery Key.
How do I move to a new iPhone?
Install KeyMiles and sign in with the same Apple Account. If iCloud Keychain is on, your trips come back on their own; otherwise enter your Recovery Key.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › KeyMiles. Your saved trips and reports stay viewable and exportable after you cancel.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings › Account & Backup › Delete account and backups. Trips already on your iPhone stay there.
Is the deduction amount official?
No — it's an estimate at the IRS standard mileage rate for each trip's date, not tax advice. Share your report with your tax professional.
